Pingree Stroll

This last weekend we decided to give Emmery her first taste of the mountains.  We headed up to Pingree Park and found ourselves feeling saddened after driving through Poudre Canyon and seeing so much burned land and a black river.   We then 4-wheeled up to some reservoirs that were so low they were like ponds :(  But we walked around them anyways and enjoyed being in the cool mountain air.  And of course we stopped by Mishawaka (a restaurant in the canyon) for some lunch!

Emmery kind of looks like a little old man in her flappy hat :)

That night I sat Emmery up in her boppy to watch some Olympics, but she found me much more interesting :)

Garden of the Gods wedding

This weekend we headed down to Colorado Springs to attend the wedding of the little boy who used to live across the street from me while growing up.  I still picture him as that little boy, and so every time I see him I am just so impressed with how great of a guy he has grown up to be.  He and his beautiful bride were high school sweethearts!
And I needed a trip home- it always re-grounds me.  So thank you to my friends and family for reminding me how blessed I am.

Jamison and his little girl.

My beautiful Mom.  She got Emmery dressed for the day and put a few stitches in her headband so that it would fit :)

Emmery loves cuddling with her Grandpa.  He can always get her to fall asleep with his easy-going, calm nature.

And the biggest highlight of the weekend was watching the groom dance with his mother.  Debbie was my second mom growing up, and I lover her dearly.  Over the last two years she has been diagnosed with lou gehrigs.  She has recently started using a wheelchair, but with courage and determination she was able to accomplish something that meant a lot to her- dance with her son on his wedding day.

Here are Jamison and I at the wedding, which was at the Garden of the Gods club.

Kissing in front of Kissing Camels :-)

And little Emmery on her sweet 16.  This week she has started rolling a little more and has enjoyed discovering her feet and trying to eat them.

Gaggling

Emmery has been getting more vocal, and this week she has spent a lot of time just trying out different noises.  Of course whenever I pull out my phone to record her, she stops what she's doing and just stares at it :-)

Jamison and I did some artwork with her feet earlier in the week.

And this week was the first time she showed any interest in her weekly chalkboard :-)

Family fun

After being used to seeing our parents ~every 2 weeks, not seeing either of them for almost 4 weeks seemed like a long time!  But this week Emmery finally got to spend time with some of her favorite people- her grandparents.  She is always smiling when they are around :)

Jean and Tom came up on Tuesday.

And on Wednesday Johnny and Amanda and family came up to celebrate the 4th of July with us!
Emmery had the cutest 4th of July dress :)

Playing cards with Daddy

For lunch we had lots of meat- grilled chicken, ribs, and bratwursts, salad, tri-colored potato salad, and red, white, and blue fruit.  For dessert we had apple pie and ice-cream.  And I went to bed with a very full belly.

After lunch we walked down to City Park to listen to some bands (no fireworks this year due to the fires).

Emmery loves Mikah!

You can just see Quincie's excitement :-)

Look at those eyelashes!

Everyone had a good time kicking around the soccer ball.

And Emmery took a short nap.

Yes- we all dressed up for the 4th :-)

Quincie dancing to the music

Loves her Daddy!

We tried to take a cousin picture.  But Quincie just felt the music...

And had to get up and dance!  I like Milan's smile in this one

And by early evening everyone was pretty worn out from all of the sun.

My mom came up Thursday, and my Dad came up Friday.  It ended up being perfect timing, because Emmy Lou got her first cold :-(  Thursday night was a rough one- her sinuses were stuffed and she had a cough.  My parents were worried it was in her chest, so they took her to the doctor on Friday.  But she checked out okay and has spent the last 3 days resting and trying to get better.  Surprisingly she has kept smiling throughout being sick- such a good baby!

Scott and Katie came up Saturday to go out to breakfast for my Mom's birthday.

Emmery has been more snuggly than normal while being sick.

And with a red nose and watery eyes, I still had her pose for her 14 week old pictures.  My mom helped with her chalkboard this week, and I think it's the cutest yet!

And after a busy week, Emmery and I fell asleep early on Saturday night.
