A weekend at D&D's cabin

Last weekend we did something we have been wanting to do for years- we went and visited Doug, Denise, and Moose at their cabin near Silverthorne.  The cabin is set in a simply beautiful location, surrounded by Aspen trees and wildlife.  The cabin itself is full of history, stories, and treasures that have been collected over the years.  With so much to look at, Em hardly touched the toys we brought!

We went for a nice hike on Saturday.

Emmery took a little nap on the hike.

Isn't this mountain lake beautiful?

Emmery loves Denise! Even when she was a baby- she would be crying, and then Denise would stop by and Emmery would be all smiles.

Emmery recently saw another golden retriever and started saying, "Moose!"  I think she is getting confused on what a moose is :)

They had a little rocking chair that Em loved.

On Saturday night we had a lovely dinner and then sat on their deck and made s'mores!  The next morning we woke up to a drizzly morning that felt like Fall. Overnight the leaves had noticeably started to turn more yellow! We took a small hike around the area and looked at some of the other cabins nearby.

We had a wonderful time and left wanting to get back to the mountains as soon as possible. Thank you to Doug, Denise, and Moose for sharing their beloved cabin with us and cooking spectacular food!

Wedding fun

Last week Emmery climbed up and went through the playground gym until she got to the top of the slide.

And then without much hesitation, she went down all by herself! (Dont worry, I took the picture and then quickly caught her :))

Emmery got all dressed up for the Broncos game.

Last weekend we went to Lead, South Dakota in the black hills for Jamison's cousin's wedding.  It was about a 6 hr drive, and Emmery did really well except for that she got car sick right as we pulled up to the hotel (thank goodness it didnt happen earlier!)
Jean and Tom brought along Quincie and Johnny, and Emmery enjoyed spending some time with her cousins.

The wedding was at a ski resort, so we took a family picture on one of the ski lift chairs.

We had a really nice time at the wedding, especially Emmery who got to be chased around by kids all night.

Animal lover

Despite the fact that I have never been an animal lover (which I feel bad about), Emmery LOVES animals.  This makes me happy.

Last week our dear friends Denise and Moose came down from Fort Collins to visit us.  Emmery was very excited to see Moose! Moose is a soul that even I love :)

We met Kelly and her 3 boys at the zoo.  Emmery liked the animals, but because she couldn't really touch them, I think she enjoyed crunching in the leaves, playing the drums, and running around the most.  However, she was quite impressed with a monkey that swung across a vine over the path we were standing on and since then she loves to make monkey noises.

This big ape looked right at her :)
